Capturing Major Events
When we think of capturing memories, it’s usually the big events in life: new babies, weddings, graduations. Celebrations are generally the times when people are gussied up, when cameras are brought along, and video cameras are dusted off, all in anticipation of capturing memories.
Using MemoriesGrow, you can organize, capture and share your memories using multimedia albums. So instead of just taking photos at your best friend’s wedding, you can now think out of the box a little bit. Interview the bride using the audio function of your smart phone before she takes her vows and get her thoughts and feelings. Later, when she’s returned from her honeymoon, you can share that recording with her along with any other memories you’ve collected in your album of her wedding. Actually, it may make for a very thoughtful wedding present.
This is just one example of what MemoriesGrow can do for you. We’ve collected a host of ideas for you to capture memories in fun and meaningful ways.
Birthdays
When you’re young, it’s the best day of the year. When you’re older…not so much. Still, there are tons of ways to capture a birthday.
• Using photo-editing software, scan, size, and add initials or the birthday or anniversary numeral to your pictures to create a “Let’s Celebrate album” for any family member or friend. If paper invitations are sent out, scan a copy of it and add it to the birthday album along with any other mementos.• Use your cell phone or video camera to capture everyone singing Happy Birthday, followed by the birthday boy or girl blowing out candles.
• If possible, interview the birthday boy or girl’s mother using an audio recording device or your cell phone. Ask her about how she felt when her son/daughter was born.
• Make an album of photos from birthdays past, ending with photos, audio and video from your last birthday.
Weddings
Many people cite their wedding day as the best day of their lives. While traditionally we’ve captured weddings with photo albums, MemoriesGrow makes it possible to create a multimedia experience.
• Create an album for the couple that documents their relationship history. This can include anything and everything from text accounts of their first date to a video of their proposal.
• Using an audio recording device, ask a couple of wedding guests to say a few words about the bride and groom.
• Make a bridal shower album with a scanned copy of the invitation, photos of the event and video of the girls playing games. You can also create a bachelor/bachelorette party album, but you may not want to share that with everyone!
Graduation
Ah, to finally walk the stage. What a great day! Here are some ideas for capturing the memories.
• Create an album documenting your child’s school years. This can include scanned copies of report cards, A-grade tests, artwork and letters from teachers. Include school photos from all ages, both individual and class photos.
• Capture the moment your friend or family member receives their diploma on video.
• Create a “friends” album where you document social activities and events for all four years of high school or college.
Holidays
Create albums for each holiday throughout the years. For instance, you may want to have a Christmas or Hanukkah album with photos and video from those celebrations from throughout the years. You can then keep adding memories to these albums in all different ways (text, audio, photos, etc) for future years. Christmas is just one example, however.
You may want to do albums for Thanksgiving, Halloween or even Memorial Day weekend, if your family celebrates by doing something special every year.
