Subscriptions

Is MemoriesGrow free?

Yes, all users start with a free account which has a 200MB multimedia upload limit. Users will not be able to upload additional assets beyond the 200MB limit without upgrading to a premium subscription. Premium subscriptions come in two options: a month-to-month subscription for $5/month and an annual subscription of $50/year (saving 17%). Both the monthly and annual subscriptions increase your upload limit from 200MB to 5GB.

Will MemoriesGrow ever delete my uploaded media?

For free accounts, we will store your media for up to one year of account inactivity. We will send you several email notifications regarding the pending deletion.

How can I pay for the premium subscription?

Subscriptions are paid with a major credit card. We’ve partnered with Amazon to ensure the safety and security of your online subscription. Unfortunately we do not take checks or PayPal.

Why should I trust you with my credit card information?

We’ve partnered with Amazon to ensure the safety and security of your online subscription. In fact, the payment portion is completely handled by Amazon. MemoriesGrow does not receive any credit card information from Amazon.

Do you offer refunds?

No refunds (partial or full) are offered. Our subscriptions (monthly and annual) are set for automatic renewal with the renewal date clearly stated on your account page. If you wish to cancel your subscription, you are free to do so online at your convenience. Just be sure to cancel the subscription prior to your renewal date.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Simply go to your account page and follow the instructions to disable auto-renew. Note that our subscriptions are prepaid. When you buy a monthly subscription on the 1st of the month, each payment installment covers the period from the payment date until the 1st of the next month. If you cancel the subscription, your subscription privileges will continue until the 1st of the following month at which point the account will downgrade to a standard plan. Similarly, a cancelled annual subscription will remain in effect until it expires, at which point the subscription will not auto-renew and will instead revert to a standard plan.

How can I tell when my subscription will auto-renew?

Your renewal date can be found on your account page under the Account Information section.

Family Tree

How large can my tree be?

There is no set limit on the number of family members in your tree so feel free to add as many family members as you’d like.

Can I remove people from my tree?

Yes, but be careful. When you delete someone from your tree, you are also deleting all uploaded media associated with that family member’s timeline.

What happens if someone deletes a family member from a shared family tree?

That deleted family member will no longer appear to anyone else. Remember that you are sharing a common tree with your family members so adding and deleting members of a shared tree affects everyone.

How do I upload a picture for each family member?

Click on a specific family member and a small window appears. Click on the Edit link to open a new window showing the details for that family member. Click on the default photo, and you’ll be prompted to choose an image from your hard drive to upload.

How do I invite family members to join MemoriesGrow so we can share the same tree?

Click on a specific person from the family tree, and then click on the Send invite link. You will be prompted to enter the email address for that family member. Once you enter in the email address for that person and click Invite new user an email will be sent to that family member. The family member may then click on the link included in that email to register, and he or she will automatically share your family tree.

Can I copy or import a family tree from another account?

At this time you are not allowed to import a family tree from another account.

Can I put my friends into my family tree?

No, the family tree is intended only to capture your familial relationships. If your friends have shared albums with you, you can always visit their timeline or family tree by opening the email invitations they sent you by clicking on enclosed links. Once you are viewing the albums they’ve shared with you, you’re only one click away from their timeline and family tree.

Can I import a family tree from another source (like a GEDCOM file)?

Unfortunately we are not allowing you to import a family tree from another source at this time. We understand that genealogists use different technologies to manage their data and that they would enjoy porting their existing genealogical information to our site using the GEDCOM format. We hope to offer this feature in the future.

Timelines & Albums

Can multiple users have the same common timeline?

No. Each family member has his or her own separate timeline. Timelines are meant to provide a natural organization of memories for each individual. If the entire family shared one timeline, then it would be one big jumble of photos and other media.

What types of media can I upload into my albums?

Currently we support photos (JPEG, GIF, and PNG format), audio files (MP3 format), and text. We plan to support video, PDF, and additional audio formats soon.

Can I choose who has access to my albums?

Yes. You determine who has access to each album by granting permission to individual contacts as well as contact lists. You can view and manage contacts and contact lists by going to the contacts page in your Profile section.

Can I grant and then later revoke someone’s access to one of my albums?

Yes. Simply edit the album’s sharing permissions, and remove the individual’s email address from the list of approved viewers.

Can I delete an album?

Yes, you have the ability to delete any album (or any piece of content within an album) that you have created.

Can I delete an album created by a family member on my timeline?

No. Only the owner of an album—that is, the user who originally created the album—may delete the contents of the album. For an album created on your timeline by another family member, you may choose to hide the album. When you a hide an album on your timeline that is owned by someone else, the album is not deleted from the system, but no one (except you and the album owner) are able to see the hidden album.

Is there a limit to the number of pages in an album?

No. You are free to create an album with as many pages as you’d like. The only constraint is the storage limit for your account plan. The standard free plan has an upload limit of 200MB; the limit on the premium plan is 5GB.

Can I assign an album to multiple timelines?

Unfortunately not at this time. We are considering this feature for the future as some events (e.g. family reunions, a holiday party) may be best suited existing on multiple timelines.

Can I copy an album from one timeline to another?

You cannot copy an entire album from one timeline to another. However, you can copy individual pages from one album to another.

Can I delete comments left on my albums by others?

This is another feature we are considering for the future, but unfortunately it is not available at this time.

Account Information

How do I change my password for MemoriesGrow?

Go to your account page, and fill out the appropriate form fields to change your password.

Can I associate additional email addresses to my MemoriesGrow account?

Yes. Simply go to your account page, and under User Settings click the link to add an email address.

How do I know how much I’ve uploaded?

Your account page displays your storage usage under the Account Information section.
